Help & answers

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about quotes, moving day, furniture assembly, clearances, payment and your data. Can't find what you are looking for? We are happy to help.

General

We offer three services: relocation and moving (including furniture disassembly, transport, reassembly and, on request, packing), furniture assembly and mounting, and clearance and disposal of unwanted furniture. One coordinated team takes care of your job from start to finish, so you always have a single point of contact. We do not carry out fixed electrical or plumbing work.

We work throughout Ticino: the Luganese, the Mendrisiotto, the Bellinzonese, the Locarnese and its valleys, and the Tre Valli. On request we also work in the Moesano and further afield, for example for a move to another canton. Simply give us both addresses when you ask for a quote.

Yes. We work for private households as well as for offices, shops and other businesses, in flats, houses and commercial premises. For businesses we plan the work to keep disruption to a minimum, for example early in the morning or, on request, on a Saturday.

We work from Monday to Friday; Saturday appointments are possible on request. You can send us a quote request online at any time, and we reply as quickly as possible on working days, as indicated on our quote page. Our current office hours are shown at the bottom of every page.

Yes. We do not carry out fixed electrical work (for example hard-wiring an oven or a hob) or plumbing work (for example connecting taps, sinks or drains), because this work must be done by certified professionals; on request we coordinate one for you. We also do not accept hazardous waste such as paints, solvents, chemicals, asbestos, gas cylinders or ammunition, nor goods whose transport is illegal.

Quotes & prices

Yes. Our quotes are always free and non-binding, and they remain valid for 30 days. You only commit once you accept the quote and we confirm the booking in writing by e-mail.

You can submit your request through our online form by selecting the service you need and describing the job. For a more accurate quote, we recommend uploading a few photos of the items or spaces involved. Alternatively, you can contact us by phone or e-mail. We aim to respond promptly on business days, as indicated on our quote page.

Depending on the job, we quote either a flat price or an hourly rate, and the quote always states which one applies. A flat price gives you full cost certainty, while an hourly rate suits jobs whose duration is hard to predict. Extra work or waiting time not caused by us and not included in the quote is billed at the hourly rate stated in the quote.

The main factors are the volume and number of items, the floors and whether there is a lift, the distance between the addresses and how close the van can park to the entrance. Narrow staircases, heavy or bulky items, packing services and the amount to be disposed of also play a role. The more precise your information and photos, the more accurate our quote.

All prices are in Swiss francs (CHF). Your quote clearly states whether VAT is included or added, so you always know the total amount. The quote also lists exactly what is included in the price.

Any travel costs are always shown in the quote, so there are no surprises. For jobs outside Ticino, for example in the Moesano, in another canton or abroad, we take the travel time and distance into account and list them transparently.

We are happy to take on small jobs too, such as assembling a single wardrobe or mounting a TV. For very short jobs a minimum charge may apply; if so, it is clearly stated in the quote. Combining several small tasks in one visit is often the most economical solution.

Our quote is based on the information you give us, so please describe volumes, floors and access as accurately as possible. If on the day there is clearly more to do than agreed, we tell you before we continue. Additional work not included in the quote is billed at the hourly rate stated in the quote, or we agree an updated price with you.

Booking & scheduling

Once you accept the quote, we confirm the date, time and agreed services in writing by e-mail. Your booking is final only once you have received this confirmation. For moves above CHF 2,000 a deposit of 30% may be requested at booking.

Our regular working days are Monday to Friday. Saturday appointments are possible on request, subject to availability; just mention it in your quote request. Any Saturday surcharge is stated in the quote.

We do our best to help with urgent requests, and short-notice appointments are sometimes possible, especially for assembly work and small clearances. Please contact us by WhatsApp or e-mail so we can check availability straight away. Same-day service cannot be guaranteed.

Yes. Rescheduling or cancelling is free of charge up to 7 calendar days before the agreed date. Between 6 and 2 days before, 30% of the quoted price is charged; less than 48 hours before, or if we cannot access the premises on the day, 50% is charged. Please let us know in writing as early as possible.

We recommend that you, or a person you trust, are present at the start to show us what needs to be done, and at the end to check the result. In between, you don't need to stay with us the whole time. If nobody can be there, we agree in advance how we will access the premises.

Yes. If you cannot be present, we can collect the keys in advance or from a person you name, for example the caretaker or a neighbour. We handle keys confidentially, return them as agreed and confirm the arrangement in writing. Please make sure we have access at the agreed time, as no access on the day is charged according to our cancellation terms.

Relocation & moving

It depends on the volume, the access at both addresses and the distance. A studio or small flat in the same area can often be moved in half a day to a day, while a large flat or a house may take one or more days, including disassembly and reassembly. We give you a realistic time estimate in the quote.

That's no problem: we regularly work in old town houses and buildings without a lift. Please tell us the floors, whether there is a lift and how big it is, and if possible send photos of narrow stairs or passages. This helps us plan the right team and equipment and take large pieces apart where necessary.

Yes. On request we supply sturdy moving boxes and protective materials such as packing paper, bubble wrap and tape, and their cost is shown in the quote. During transport we protect your furniture with blankets, straps and stretch film as part of the service. Tell us roughly what you need to pack and we'll help you estimate how many boxes you'll need.

Yes. On request we pack your belongings before the move, including fragile items such as glasses, crockery and pictures, using proper boxes and protective materials, and unpack them at your new home. You can choose full packing or only the delicate items. Please keep cash, jewellery, important documents and other valuables with you.

Yes, this is at the heart of our moving service. We carefully dismantle wardrobes, beds, shelving and modular units, label all fittings so nothing gets lost, and reassemble everything at the new address exactly where you want it. Where appropriate, tall furniture is anchored to the wall for safety.

Yes, we can transport your house plants together with the rest of your move. Please let us know about very large or delicate plants in advance. We cannot guarantee their condition on long journeys or in extreme temperatures, as plants are sensitive to heat, cold and darkness.

For their safety, and to keep the work flowing, we recommend that small children and pets stay with someone else or in a quiet, closed room on moving day. Doors are often left open and heavy items are carried through corridors and stairwells. We do not transport animals.

We don't offer cleaning ourselves. We plan our work so that the flat is empty in good time before the cleaning and the handover appointment. The rooms we empty are left broom-clean.

If there is a gap between moving out and moving in — the usual Ticino lease dates often create one — we can arrange storage for your furniture and the transport in both directions. Tell us the two dates and roughly what has to be stored, and we will tell you which solution fits your move. The conditions, the period and the price are always set out in the quote, before anything leaves your home.

Furniture assembly

Yes. We bring all the tools and standard fixings needed for assembly and wall mounting, including drills, spirit levels and wall plugs for the most common wall types. If your furniture comes with special fittings, we use the ones supplied by the manufacturer. You only need to make sure the room is accessible.

Yes. We can collect your flat-pack purchases from the store or pick-up point, bring them to your home and assemble them on site. You buy and pay for the furniture yourself; we just need the order or pick-up details. When we're done, we take the packaging away for recycling.

It depends on the type and size of the furniture: a small chest of drawers may take less than an hour, while a large wardrobe with sliding doors or a complete kitchen can take several hours or more. If you send us the product names or links, we can give you a reliable time estimate in the quote.

We check the parts before and during assembly. If something is missing or damaged, we tell you right away so you can ask the seller for a replacement, since usually only the buyer can do so. We assemble everything we can and, if needed, arrange a follow-up visit to finish the job; any extra time is agreed with you in advance.

Often yes, using special cavity anchors, as long as the load is suitable for the wall. Before drilling we check the wall type (concrete, brick, plasterboard or tiles) and choose the right fixings. If a wall cannot safely carry the weight, we tell you and suggest an alternative, such as fixing into the studs or choosing another spot.

Fixed electrical connections (for example hard-wiring an oven or hob to the mains or to a high-power 400 V line) and plumbing work (connecting taps, sinks, drains or water pipes) must be carried out by certified professionals for safety reasons, so we don't do them. Before we start, we point out exactly which connections need a professional.

We position household appliances such as fridges, freezers, freestanding cookers, dishwashers, washing machines and microwaves, and plug them into an existing, matching power socket where there is one. That is the extent of our work on appliances: any fixed electrical connection and any connection to the water supply or drains must be done by a certified electrician or plumber. We point these connections out in advance.

Yes. We assemble and mount kitchen cabinets, base and wall units, fronts, pre-cut worktops and handles, and make sure everything is level and aligned. Connecting the sink, taps and water pipes and hard-wiring the oven or hob are not included: they require a certified plumber or electrician.

Yes. After assembly we collect the cardboard, plastic and polystyrene and dispose of them through the proper recycling channels, leaving your room tidy. Just tell us if you would like to keep some boxes, for example for a future move.

Yes. We can dismantle your old wardrobe, bed or shelving before assembling the new furniture and, on request, take the old pieces away for recycling or donation as part of our clearance service. Please mention it in your request so we can include it in the quote.

Clearance & disposal

We clear furniture, household goods, textiles, books, electrical appliances, bulky waste and general clutter, from a single room to a whole property. We cannot accept hazardous waste such as paints, solvents, chemicals, asbestos, gas cylinders or ammunition; these must be taken to specialised collection points. If you're unsure about an item, just ask us.

Wherever possible, reusable items in good condition are passed on to local charities and donation points. Everything else is sorted and taken to authorised municipal or cantonal collection points (ecocentri) for recycling or disposal. Electrical and electronic appliances are returned through the SENS and Swico take-back systems.

Yes. Disposal fees at the ecocentro or municipal collection points are included in our clearance quotes, unless the quote explicitly states otherwise. The quote tells you exactly what is included, so there are no surprises when the job is done.

It depends on the charity, as each organisation accepts different things and has its own needs. As a rule, items must be clean, working and in good condition, for example undamaged furniture, complete sets of crockery or intact household appliances. We sort out what can be reused and coordinate with local charities, but we cannot guarantee that a particular item will be accepted.

Yes. We know that clearing the home of a loved one is a difficult moment, and we work with discretion, respect and patience. We agree in advance which items the family wants to keep; please remove valuables and important documents beforehand. Any personal documents or photos we still come across are set aside and handed over to you. We work at a pace that suits you and can also coordinate directly with the heirs or the property management.

Yes. Cellars, attics, garages and storage rooms are among the spaces we clear most often. Please tell us about the access (stairs, narrow passages, lighting) and any heavy items, and send a few photos so we can estimate the volume. Remember that hazardous substances such as old paint, engine oil or gas cylinders cannot be taken.

After a clearance the rooms are left empty and broom-clean, ready for the handover, a sale or the next tenant. Thorough cleaning is not part of our service.

Before the clearance, please remove all documents, cash, jewellery, data carriers and other valuables you want to keep, and clearly mark anything else that must stay. We are not required to search through the items, but if we come across something that seems valuable or personal, such as documents, photos, cash or jewellery, we set it aside and hand it over to you. Everything we take away becomes our property: where possible it is donated, otherwise recycled or disposed of properly, and it cannot be reclaimed afterwards.

Of course. You show us what stays and what goes, and we remove only the items you have chosen, whether it's a single piece of furniture, one room or the whole property. Clearly marking the items to keep, for example with coloured stickers, helps avoid misunderstandings.

Insurance & damage

Yes. We are insured for damage caused by our staff during the work, and details of the cover are available on request. Above all, we work carefully and protect your furniture and belongings to prevent damage in the first place.

Despite all our care, accidents can happen. If our staff cause damage, please point it out: visible damage should be noted together on the day of the job, ideally with photos. We then handle the claim with our insurance quickly and fairly.

Visible damage should be noted on the day of the job, before our team leaves. Hidden damage, for example something you only notice when unpacking, must be reported to us in writing (an e-mail is fine) within 5 working days, with a short description and photos. Reporting promptly helps us settle the matter quickly.

They remain your responsibility: we do not transport cash, jewellery, securities, important documents or other valuables. Please take them with you personally on the day and don't pack them in the boxes we carry. This keeps your most precious belongings safe and avoids any misunderstanding.

Pack fragile items well with plenty of padding and mark the boxes as fragile. Empty drawers and cupboards, secure loose parts and tell us before we start about any existing damage or particularly delicate furniture. Clear passageways at both addresses also make the work safer for everyone.

Payment & invoicing

You can pay by invoice with a QR-bill, payable within 10 days, or on completion of the work by TWINT. Payment by card is possible on request. We agree the payment method with you when the booking is confirmed.

For most jobs no deposit is required. For moves above CHF 2,000 we may ask for a deposit of 30% of the quoted price at booking; if so, this is stated in the quote and in the booking confirmation. The deposit is deducted from the final invoice.

We send the invoice once the work is completed, usually by e-mail with a Swiss QR-bill that you can pay easily with your banking app. The payment term is 10 days. If you have already paid on completion by TWINT or card, you receive a receipt instead.

For flat-price jobs you pay the price in the quote, provided the job matches the information you gave us. For hourly jobs the final amount depends on the time actually worked at the agreed rate. Extra work or waiting time not caused by us and not included in the quote is billed at the hourly rate stated in the quote.

Yes. When you accept the quote, just give us the correct billing name and address, for example your employer's if they are paying for your move. Businesses can also give us an order or reference number to be shown on the invoice.

Privacy & your data

We use the information and photos you send us to answer your request, prepare the quote and plan, carry out and invoice the job. We also process data where the law requires it, for example for accounting, and to protect our forms against abuse. With your consent, we also publish your review of our work on our website. Photos are kept in private storage, without embedded metadata such as the GPS location. We never sell your data and do not use it for advertising. We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP) and, where applicable, the EU GDPR; our privacy policy lists every purpose and all other details.

Quote requests are deleted 24 months after their last update. A request that led to a contract (an accepted or completed job) is part of our accounting records and, like contracts and invoices, is kept for 10 years after its last update, as required by the Swiss Code of Obligations. Photos are always deleted together with their request. Messages sent through the contact form are deleted 12 months after their last update, whatever their status. A review we publish with your consent is deleted when you withdraw your consent. The internal record of the changes made by our staff is deleted together with the request, message or review it refers to, and in any case 24 months after the change. Deletion at the end of these periods is automatic, and deleted data disappears from our backup copies within 21 days. The internal e-mails that tell our team about a new request or message contain no personal data, so those notices leave no copy of your details in a mailbox. Our privacy policy lists all retention periods.

Only authorised ProntaMano staff who need your data for their work can access it, each with a personal account. Your data and photos are stored securely and are never publicly accessible; the only exception is a review you have allowed us to publish on our website. Our service providers, such as our hosting and e-mail providers and, where needed, IT, accounting and fiduciary providers, process data only on our behalf and on our instructions; they are listed in our privacy policy. We pass data on to other third parties only when needed for your job, for example to a certified partner we coordinate with your agreement or to the Comune for a parking permit, or when required by law.

Yes. You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you and have it corrected or deleted. Just send us an e-mail: we reply as soon as possible and within 30 days at the latest, and we may first ask you to confirm your identity. Data we are legally required to keep, such as accounting records, is deleted as soon as the retention period has ended.
